Gates Chili Central School District

Together we teach and inspire excellence for all learners

Strategic Planning

Strategic planning

Gates Chili is developing a new strategic plan to guide the district’s work over the next three to five years. Building on community input, district data and collaborative planning, the process has identified four strategic priorities that reflect where we want to focus our efforts and the outcomes we hope to achieve.

During the 2026-27 school year, the district is moving from identifying those priorities and intended outcomes to developing the specific actions that will bring them to life. An important part of this phase is gathering perspectives from the people who experience our schools and systems every day. Feedback from students, staff, families and district leaders will help identify areas of progress, gaps and potential action steps before the plan is finalized. That approach reflects the planning team's decision to gather stakeholder feedback specifically to inform action development.

Culture and Belonging

Deepen the culture of belonging, engagement and partnership.

Intended Outcome 1: Members of the school community experience a strong sense of belonging and meaningful connection, resulting in increased engagement and well-being.

Intended Outcome 2: Inclusive, restorative, and collaborative practices are prioritized and demonstrated, resulting in a stronger school community.

Intended Outcome 3: Decisions reflect diverse voices and perspectives, resulting in improved trust, inclusivity, and responsiveness across the district.

Strengthen and align systems, data use and accountability measures.

Intended Outcome 1: District systems provide accessible, aligned, and actionable data that support effective decision-making

Intended Outcome 2: Data is consistently used to improve practices and address disparities

Intended Outcome 3: District priorities are implemented with fidelity, monitored regularly, and refined for greater impact

Sustainability

Ensure long-range sustainability through aligned systems, responsible stewardship and future-ready planning.

Intended Outcome 1: The district maintains the organizational capacity, systems, and talent needed to effectively implement, adapt, and sustain strategic priorities over time.

Intended Outcome 2: Facilities, learning environments and operations are intentionally designed and utilized to maximize learning, flexibility and long-term value.

Intended Outcome 3: Resources are allocated strategically and responsibly to sustain priorities, maximize impact, and ensure long-term fiscal stability.

Long-range planning in action

Our ongoing long-range planning work directly supports these intended outcomes by helping the district understand future enrollment, facility and program needs and plan responsibly for the use of our spaces and resources.

Strategic planning timeline 2026-27

Fall 2026 | Moving from priorities to action
Building on the priorities and intended outcomes already identified, district teams begin the next phase of developing the strategic plan and preparing to gather community input.

November 2026-February 2027 | Community input
Each month will focus on one strategic priority, with brief opportunities for staff, families, students and district leaders to provide feedback. Surveys will be tailored to each audience and to the aspects of each priority they experience most directly. The sequence is Culture and Belonging in November, MTSS in December, Systems and Accountability in January and Sustainability in February.

March-April 2027 | Developing and refining action steps
District teams will review stakeholder feedback alongside other district information and use what we learn to develop and refine action steps for each priority.

May-June 2027 | Sharing the plan
An initial complete plan will be shared with administrators, staff and families before final review and presentation to the Board of Education. The goal is to complete and share the strategic plan by the end of the 2026-27 school year.

Make your voice heard

Community input is an important part of developing our strategic plan. From November through February, families will have an opportunity to provide feedback on one strategic priority each month. Each survey will be brief and will focus on the parts of the priority that families can directly experience and speak to.
