Brasser Recognized as High Achieving and High Progress by NYSED
Florence Brasser Elementary School has been named a Recognition School for the 2019-20 school year by the New York State Education Department.
Recognition Schools are identified as such because they are among the top-performing under New York’s Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) Plan, which emphasizes fostering equity in education.
Under ESSA, Recognition Schools have high academic achievement, student growth and graduation rate; met or exceeded either the school or state measures of interim progress for English language arts and mathematics, rate of chronic absenteeism, and college, career, and civic readiness; and met the federally-required 95 percent participation rate in the English language arts and mathematics assessments.
“I am so proud of the progress Florence Brasser has made towards promoting equity for our students,” said Timothy Young, principal. “I commend the teachers, administrators, staff, parents and students for the hard work and dedication they bring to our school each day.”
“This recognition acknowledges the incredible dedication of all of Gates Chili CSD staff to teach and inspire excellence for all learners,” said Superintendent Christopher Dailey.
Brasser was one of 582 schools statewide to receive the honor. Each school will receive a certificate of recognition from the Commissioner of Education.
